The University of Arizona’s College of Applied Science & Technology (CAST) is a designated Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Operations (CAE-CO) and a designated Intelligence Community Center of Academic Excellence (IC-CAE). CAST is seeking an Assistant Professor who will teach undergraduate courses within our Bachelor of Applied Science, Cyber Operations, and Intelligence & Information Operations degree programs. The preferred candidate will have knowledge of discrete mathematics, algorithms, data structures, and how they are implemented through the fundamentals of basic programming. Ability to determine the complexity of the algorithm and identify cases in which the algorithm would/would not provide a reasonable approach for solving a specific problem. Ability to explain how variability affects outcomes; how to identify anomalous events; and how to identify the meaning of anomalous events. Ability to explain and demonstrate how automata are used to describe computing machines and computation; and the concept that some things are computable, and some are not. Ability to explain and demonstrate problems involving statistical and date terminology, the design of an experiment, and the knowledge of probability and the standard statistical distributions. Knowledge, understanding, and ability to teach problem-solving using hypothesis testing concerning population parameters and techniques (one-sample t-test, two-sample t-test, chi-square, regression, and One-way ANOVA). Knowledge and ability to teach and demonstrate various statistical analyses using computer software. CAST is seeking candidates who can demonstrate outstanding teaching and course development consistent with the college's purpose, vision, and values. This position will contribute to building a strong team of culturally diverse faculty and staff who are committed to preparing traditional, post-traditional, and transfer students for success in a 21st-century workforce.
