JOB DESCRIPTION

The University of Indianapolis is currently seeking one Instructor of Mathematics beginning August 2021. This is an outstanding opportunity for a professional to join a growing university.

Reporting directly to the Chair of the Department of Mathematical Sciences, this faculty position will support the fulfillment of the University's mission, purpose and goals. This position will be annually contracted (24 credits total) with the possibility of renewal. This position will devote up to 12 credit hours of load to direct the Mathematics tutoring lab and support student learning. The successful candidate will shape our mission in student support, manage daily operations of the Tutoring Lab; hire, train, schedule, and supervise the mathematics tutor staff; annually assess the effectiveness of the Mathematics Tutoring Lab and student success; and oversee and manage other initiatives and programs as appropriate. Presence in some evening hours is expected.

The remaining credits will be devoted to teaching gateway courses in Mathematics. The instructor is expected to:

  • Deliver courses with clear outcomes, meaningful assignments, and transparent, timely assessment.
  • Model effective teaching and professionalism
  • Manage inclusive and engaging learning environments
  • Attend and participate collaboratively in department and faculty meetings
  • Be flexible and responsive in teaching and conduct weekly office hours

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Utilize up to 12 credit hours of load to direct the Mathematics tutoring lab and support student learning
  • Teach gateway courses in Mathematics with remaining credit hour load


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in teaching college level gateway Mathematics courses is required
  • Master's degree in Mathematics, Math Education or in a related field with at least 18 graduate credits in mathematics is required
  • Doctoral degree, and ability to teach Elementary Statistics and/or Math Education courses is preferred
