Position Summary

POSITION SUMMARY
The Veterinary Nursing Coordinator ( VNC ) functions as a CVT in a teaching environment. The VNC will spend a considerable amount of time on the following: reviewing records and animal care, helping students outside of class with animal care, stocking and maintaining the facility, and assisting faculty with classes. Other responsibilities include oversight of students, lab assisting, inventory, ordering, equipment maintenance and repair, surgical assisting, monitoring anesthesia, diagnostic testing, maintaining orderly facilities. Will be required to interact with all species of animals.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Provide routine, medical, and husbandry animal care.
2. Supervise animal wards.
3. Supervise and coordinate student animal care duties in coordination with animal care instructor (s).
4. Maintain safety guidelines for students, animals, MSDS logs.
5. Maintain and operate equipment; order and maintain inventories of pharmaceuticals, food and supplies; maintain and supervise records.
6. Hire, train and supervise Vet Tech student workers.
7. Manage procurement of animals for use in facilities
8. Maintain orderly Veterinary Medical Technology facility.
9. Assist with regulatory requirements.
10. Provide lab assistance including surgical assistance and monitoring of anesthesia.
11. Manage animal adoptions
12. Schedule and man weekly open labs to monitor/assist students with procedures and equipment.
13. Perform medical procedures on a variety of animals as necessary.
14. Perform related duties as assigned.
