Job Summary

The IT Specialist is responsible for providing technical and service-related support on a range of technologies to employee and student end users in the College of Human Sciences. The person in this position will assist with the resolution of problems in areas to include enterprise and business applications and processes, University research processes, operating systems, and current hardware management.

Special Note: Auburn Information Technology is in the process of restructuring the job classification system. Within a year the title and grade of this position may change. The job duties and associated compensation will not change.

Essential Functions

• Analyzes problems on computer applications and University systems and provides technical assistance to College of Human Sciences’ constituents.
• Analyzes current and proposed departmental and client hardware and software systems. Develops and maintains systems for the various constituencies within the College.
• Reviews proposals which consist of objectives, scope, and client expectations. Gathers facts, analyzes data, and prepares proposal synopses comparing alternatives in terms of cost, time, and available resources.
• Provides individual and/or group instruction on computer technologies.
• Provides technical support for research and development initiatives and for the implementation of new technologies for adoption.
• Performs other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Specialist III – Experience must include at least 1 year at the preceding level or equivalent. Experience in computer maintenance, troubleshooting, graphic and web site design, and programming.

Typical salaries for this level are between $42K and $52K.

Requirements for Additional Job Levels

Specialist IV – High school diploma or equivalent plus 5 years of experience. Experience must include at least 1 year at the preceding level or equivalent.

Salaries typically range between $53K and $65K at this level.
