The principle objective of the Associate Director of Events &
Operations is to provide oversight, guidance and leadership to the
development of a comprehensive Student Union. This includes the
development of student learning outcomes, sustainable and relevant
technology and equipment, and supporting all students, staff and
faculty utilizing the Union in any capacity to positively affect
the students' educational experiences at UNC Asheville. In this
capacity, the Associate Director provides guidance, supervision,
and leadership in the construction, development, and implementation
of a comprehensive student development plan that advances the
University's learning outcomes, adheres to the goals of the
Division of Student Affairs related to student employment, and is
integral to the Department's success in developing lifelong
learners in students. The post is responsible for the daily
operations of Highsmith Student Union and campus and supervises two
full time professional staff. The position provides technical
support to all programs, events, special events, and meeting
requests across the campus, with an emphasis in teaching student
leaders' skills and competencies related to event planning often
initiated through student organizations. The employee in this
position is expected to work collaboratively with the Department of
Housing and Student Life Operations to ensure the Union is a safe,
clean, relevant environment for students to learn and commune.
