Description
Fisk University invites the application for the position of Social Work. The University seeks a professional scholar who possesses the following:
- Teach social work courses in the BSW Program (Bachelor Level)
- Teach generalist social work practice.
- Social Work expertise and teaching in one or more of the following areas: services to children and families, organizations and communities, human behavior, research, and social welfare policy and services, military families, mental health, health care in social work, international social work, and diverse population groups.
- Teach via various instructional delivery methods (i.e., face to face, service learning, and online)
- Engage in research, community service, and leadership.
- Work collaboratively on interdisciplinary teams.
- Attend departmental and university meetings.
- Participation in accreditation activities, program and student assessment, curriculum development, and student advisement
- Continued professional growth as evidenced by research, publication, and involvement in professional associations.
- Support the mission and goals of the Social Work Program and Fisk University

Fisk University was founded in 1866 and is the oldest institution of higher education in Nashville, Tennessee. In 1930 the University became the first HBCU in the nation to gain accreditation by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. Over its history the University has played a major role in securing the future for African Americans. Influential graduates include among others W.E.B. Du Bois, Judith Jamison, John Hope Franklin, David Levering Lewis, John Lewis, Diane Nash, Nikki Giovanni, and Kim Whitley.
Qualifications
- Must possess a Terminal Degree (Ph.D. or DSW) in Social Work from a regionally accredited university.
- Demonstrate ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- A minimum of three years of post MSW Experience
- Experience in teaching and advising students at the undergraduate level.
