The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences invites applications and nominations for the position of Chair of the Department of Classics. The chair serves as (1) chief administrative officer of the department, calling and presiding at departmental meetings, and supervising day-to-day activities, (2) coordinator of all aspects of the academic program, such as degree requirements, curricular offerings, catalog announcements, class scheduling, and faculty teaching assignments, (3) chief financial officer of the department, preparing budgets and supervising all receipts of money and expenditures, (4) hiring authority for all searches for new faculty and staff members, (5) evaluator of faculty and staff performance and coordinator of merit pay decisions; (6) liaison to the office of the Dean of the College. Open only to current full-time members of Classics faculty. Salary and length of term are negotiable.

The position requires a Ph.D. and current appointment as full-time faculty of department.
