Job Description

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University's Daytona Beach Campus is seeking an Assistant Baseball Coach (Pitching Coach). The assistant coach supports the head coach for baseball and is responsible for a variety of coaching, teaching and recruiting issues, along with practice and game-related functions as assigned by the head coach.

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide instruction to baseball student-athletes on the fundamentals and strategies of baseball.
  • Actively support and promote the NCAA’s Life in the Balance strategic positioning platform, embracing the six ideals of learning, balance, resourcefulness, sportsmanship, passion and service.
  • Assist with monitoring the academic progress of all baseball team members.
  • Participate in recruiting and retaining highly skilled student-athletes for the baseball team.
  • Support the operation of workshops, summer camps, clinics, etc. to promote the baseball program.
  • Assist with game management duties.
  • Maintain and manage team equipment.
  • Collect, disseminate and maintain accurate records for the baseball team.
  • Assist with securing advertisements and sponsorships to support the baseball program.
  • Assist with arranging lodging and meals for trips.
  • Other duties as assigned.


The violation of NCAA and Sunshine State Conference rules is prohibited and may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of work related experience.
  • Knowledge, understanding and ability to instruct baseball specific skills, techniques and strategies.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, develop, and coach student-athletes at the collegiate level.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully recruit qualified student-athletes at the collegiate level.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, but combination of experience in professional baseball as a player, coach and/or scout may be substituted.
  • Previous playing experience desired along with an understanding of the NCAA by-laws, rules, and regulations.
