Job Description
Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University’s Prescott, Arizona campus is hiring an Adjunct Speech Instructor to join the Department of Humanities and Communication Team. Embry-Riddle's Prescott Campus is respected worldwide for cutting-edge instruction and training for tomorrow’s aviation, aerospace, security and intelligence leaders. Prescott is a mile-high city and its climate reflects seasonable weather excellent for flying. Daytime averages are 80°F in the summer and 45°F in the winter. At 5,000 ft. above sea level, it boasts a mild climate, clean air, pristine wilderness areas, and nearby national forests. The university is a small, private, residential university in the mountains of Arizona with approximately 3,500 students. Staff/faculty/student interaction is highly valued and is a central theme of our campus. It is located 100 miles north of Phoenix and 120 miles south of the Grand Canyon.
The Department of Humanities and Communication at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Prescott campus, invites applications for a part-time teaching position to start August 30, 2021.
The successful candidate will teach 200-level Speech courses; as a part-time teacher; may teach up to 6 courses per year (fall, spring, summer) as negotiated with the department chair. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Responsibilities
COM 219 is an introductory public speaking course. The instructor is responsible for facilitating the class, grading student speeches and other assignments, teaching basic communication processes, and working with the course monitor to develop the class and assess student work. The instructor is also responsible for maintaining his/her Canvas electronic course site.

Qualifications
• Master's Degree or Ph.D. in Speech Communication or Communication Studies, or a related field.
• Evidence of successful teaching.
• The ability to use classroom technology effectively in teaching and learning.
