The two-year Associate Degree Nursing Program, accredited by the Board of Registered Nursing and the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission, prepares students for entry-level employment as registered nurses in hospitals and community settings. Teaching assignments will be available in the medical/surgical, mental health, obstetrics and pediatric clinical areas of the program. Faculty will be responsible for supervising students in clinical learning experiences, campus-based nursing practice labs, seminar groups, and nursing simulation labs during the first or second year of the program. Faculty may have lecture and/or clinical teaching assignment in more than one course. Part-time faculty assignments may consist of up to 60% of a full-time faculty load.

This is a clinical teaching position only.

Faculty job responsibilities include the development/review of curriculum and assessment of learning outcomes to improve teaching and learning in achieving El Camino College's mission of institutional effectiveness, quality educational programs, and vibrant student support services. Some assignments may include dual-enrollment courses offered offsite on high school campuses.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's in nursing AND two years full time experience OR

The equivalent - candidates not possing the required qualifcation(s) stated above, must explain in detail how their qualifiations are eqivalent to those above; OR

Valid California Registered Nurse License or eligibility for California Licensure as a registered nurse, AND

Sensitivity to and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of college students, and of individuals with disabilities.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Recent teaching in a community college or clinical experience in an acute care facility demonstrating expertise in medical-surgical, obstetrics and/or pediatric nursing.

Recent experience in more than one nursing discipline area is highly desirable

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Part-time teaching assignment(s) for the 2021 spring semester. Offer and acceptance of employment is subject to verification of all information provided on the employment application, credential(s), and transcripts. SALARY

Part-time faculty members are compensated on a semester basis according to the number of class hours assigned per semester and on cumulative semesters of instruction for the District. The beginning rate is $84.86 - $103.23 (lecture), $64.32 - $78.23 (lab) per hour depending on education and experience.
