Position Primary Purpose and General Responsibilities
VCU Telecommunications Services has an exciting opportunity for an IT Systems Analyst to join our team!
To support, maintain and troubleshoot the telecommunications expense management system ( PCR -360), other third party applications including the Avaya Communications Manager, voice messaging and adjunct systems/servers integrated with the Telecommunications Services operation as well as the university-wide managed print program, OnePrint.
Minimum Hiring Standards
•Demonstrated technical ability with relational databases (Oracle, SQL, MySQL), reporting tools (Crystal Reports), PHP and SQL programming.
•Strong analytical skills with demonstrated ability to collect, organize, analyze and disseminate significant amounts of data into various formats, for presentation and discussion, with meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
•Solid hands-on experience developing new and/or modifying existing programs, SQL queries and/or reports that are logical and optimize programming resources and meet user requirements.
•Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Access (able to create and manipulate reports, custom formulas and pivot tables, V-lookups).
•Excellent organizational and time management skills including the ability to establish priorities, exercise good judgment, meet deadlines and ensure issues are addressed in a timely manner.
•Ability to support and report on multiple projects with a focus on data quality issues and problems that include completeness, conformity, consistency, accuracy, duplicates, and integrity.
•Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking and quantitative skills, including the ability to disaggregate issues, identify root causes and recommend solutions.
•Ability to work effectively with end users to provide technical support (i.e., troubleshoot, test and debug programs), consultation and training for telecommunications applications.
•Ability to create proficient documentation to provide user support for new and modified programs.
•Excellent communication skills; ability to communicate complex information so that it is understandable to novice computer users; ability to communicate effectively in writing, particularly with regard to the development of manuals, procedures, instructional materials and reports.
•Demonstrated ability to provide quality customer service in a professional manner; communicating clearly and confidentially, both orally and in writing, with employees of various levels within the organization and with people from diverse backgrounds
•Ability to work successfully in teams and independently.
•Graduate of college/university with major studies in areas of information systems, computer science or any related field, or the equivalent job experience and training.
•Exposure to voice telecommunications technologies.
• Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff and student environment or commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU .
• Other duties as assigned.
Preferred Hiring Standards
•Focus on Avaya and VoIP technology.
•Experience with APIs.
•Working knowledge of TerminalFour for managing web content.
•Experience in a university and/or hospital environment.
•Project management experience.
•Experience with other programming or scripting languages, such as Python, and/or shell scripting (Linux or Windows).
