The Centre for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning (CETL)

The Centre for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning (CETL) is a high-profile central unit in the University under the Office of the Vice-President and Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Teaching and Learning) and plays a key role in supporting the implementation of University policies in relation to teaching and learning. It provides academic leadership and professional support in the areas of curriculum innovation, enhancement and quality assurance, and faculty professional development. CETL has established a strong track record of active engagement with Faculties and across key international networks. CETL academics are research active in a range of fields across higher education. The Position

Applications are invited for appointment as Non-Tenure Track Associate Professor/Assistant Professor in Higher Education (Ref.: 503430), to commence in September 2021 or as soon as possible thereafter, on a three-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal.

Applicants should possess:
(i) a doctoral degree in Education/ Higher Education or a relevant discipline,
(ii) strong credentials and outstanding academic leadership capabilities including:
• a track record of teaching and course development within a discipline, especially in an outcomes-based approach to student learning;
• demonstrated experience in leading curriculum and staff development initiatives and contributing to the enhancement of student learning in higher education;
(iii) extensive experience in conducting externally funded and rigorous field-based research related to higher education with a distinguished record of scholarship, and
(iv) demonstrated interest and expertise in informal learning and mentoring with a strong commitment to knowledge exchange/community engagement.

Demonstrated research expertise in the areas of big data, learning analytics and/or adaptive learning in higher education is preferred.

The appointee will join CETL’s vibrant team in supporting the University’s mission as Asia’s Global University. He/She will report to the Director of CETL and is expected to provide academic staff development opportunities in various forms, including seminars, workshops and courses; to advise Faculties on curriculum, and teaching and learning innovation; and to conduct research on teaching and learning in higher education. We envisage this post as suiting a mid-career academic looking for a career in a research-intensive university. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary. Housing benefits will be provided as applicable.
