Summary:
The Noorda Center for the Performing Arts, as part of Utah Valley University School of the Arts (SOA), hosts a wide array of performances and events across multiple venues. Primary presenters include the SOA departments Art & Design, Dance, Music and Theatre, as well as Noorda Produced events, touring attractions including the Utah Symphony, and Facility Rentals.
The Box Office Manager reports to the Managing Director. This position ensures an exceptional patron experience, anticipating patron needs, exceeding their expectations, and creating a “wow” factor for our guests. This position manages a comprehensive set of responsibilities (front of house, ticket office, volunteers, special events, and donor events) to ensure the comfort and safety of all guests and employees. This is a professional, management level position responsible for establishing and implementing financial and operational procedures necessary to manage $400,000 (and growing) in annual ticket sales as well as oversee a diverse staff—a staff which includes students and volunteers. This requires a dependable, self-motivated, and conscientious individual who can organize
a professional box office to comfortably deliver world-class personalized customer service to a varied clientele including first time ticket buyers, celebrities, government officials, long-term donors and everyone in between in a high traffic, fast-paced environment. The nature of work is detail oriented and variable and will require extensive evenings and weekends given the ongoing expansion of this vibrant facility to meet University and Community expectations.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Performing Arts, Arts Management, Business or related field, or four years of comparable professional experience.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of live Performing Arts box office operations and customer service expectations
  • Knowledge of basic accounting and cash handling procedure
  • Knowledge of administrative processes
  • Knowledge of basic people management processes including fair hiring, performance evaluation, payroll, and scheduling
  • Knowledge of ADA and crowd safety policies a plus
  • Knowledge of dynamic pricing, tiering, and revenue projections a plus
  • Knowledge of Multi-venue operations a plus
  • Knowledge of Academic performing Arts Centers a plus
  • Highly proficient in Excel and other Microsoft Office Suite applications
  • Proficient in written and oral communication
  • Proficiency in common box office ticketing systems. Training or direct experience with AudienceView a plus
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks, Quicken, or similar accounting software a plus
  • Proficiency in a second language a plus
  • Customer service and de-escalation training a plus
  • Ability to remain calm when working in stressful situations
  • Ability to manage multiple projects on various timelines and prioritize as necessary
  • Ability to perform a variety of administrative duties without direct supervision
  • Ability to work well with people of diverse backgrounds
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to prepare financial reports and meet deadlines


Preferred Qualifications:
Preferred five years’ experience managing a multi-venue box office or a Box Office in an academic setting.


Physical Requirements:
Frequent standing, sitting, and walking. Frequent use of fine-hand manipulation associated with the use of a computer. Occasional need to twist, kneel, reach, and grasp.

Pay Range: $43,400 to $53,250
