Position Description: Texas A&M AgriLife Research at the Blackland Research Center (https://blackland.tamu.edu/) seeks to hire a highly motivated faculty member at the Assistant Professor level in digital agriculture. This 12-month, non-tenure track position with 100% research appointment will provide exemplary leadership in establishing an innovative research program in digital agriculture research, which broadly covers research topics including, but not limited to sensors, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Big Data analysis for Precision and Prescriptive Agriculture Intervention aspects of agricultural science. This Assistant Professor in Agricultural Engineering and Science will develop a comprehensive, extramurally-funded research program to expand and broaden expertise in data-driven agricultural research at Texas A&M AgriLife Research by establishing a digital agriculture lab with an on-farm research program. It is anticipated that a successful candidate will participate in a USDA-funded Sustainable Ecosystems for Dairy Manure project and develop strong collaborations with existing research programs at Texas A&M AgriLife Research in agriculture, hydrology, and rangeland ecology.

Qualifications:

Required: Earned Ph.D. degree in Plant Science, Agronomy, Soil Science, Environmental Science, Biological Engineering, Agricultural and Natural Resource Sciences, or closely related discipline; Proven record of attracting external funding and publishing in peer-reviewed journals; Proficiency in English speaking and writing skills; Willingness to travel; and demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary environment. 

Preferred: Three years of experience in conducting field experiments, including but not limited to setting up seed packages, planting, harvesting, sample processing, and crop management for grains and forage crops; Five years working with Precision Agriculture/Prescriptive intervention and/or Big Data Analysis and Artificial Intelligence for Agriculture
