POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT


The Department of Communication Studies at the University of Detroit Mercy seeks a talented and energetic tenure-track assistant professor. The ideal candidate will have teaching experience and expertise in one or more of the following: public relations, advertising, or digital media, possibly including web development, graphic design, computer animation, news production, or interactive or immersive media. At minimum, the successful applicant will possess a master's degree in communication or a related discipline, with significant relevant professional experience and a demonstrated ability to work with students. A Ph.D. is desirable.

Responsibilities will include undergraduate teaching, academic advising of communication majors, scholarship in field of expertise, service to the department and university, and additional duties. The chosen educator also will help develop the department's curriculum. We're seeking a person who will be enthusiastic about working in Detroit, contribute to the city's continued rebirth, and strive to inspire student interest in fields of communication.
