Job Description
Applicants are invited to apply for a tenured or tenure-track position as an Assistant or Associate Professor of Accounting in the Department of Accounting, Finance & Business Law of the Soules College of Business at the University of Texas at Tyler. Rank is dependent on qualifications. The position will remain open until filled, but applications received by April 15, 2021, will receive priority consideration.
Essential Functions
The successful candidate will be expected to:
- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses, both face-to-face and online.
- Collaborate with faculty in the development and improvement of curricula.
- Continually lead and improve pedagogy to enhance student learning and retention.
- Be actively involved in department, college, and university service.
- Research expectations are commensurate with those of the University's Carnegie R-2 classification and an AACSB-accredited business school.
Required Qualifications
- Candidates must have an earned doctoral degree (Ph.D. or D.B.A.) in Accounting from an ASCSB International and regionally-accredited institution. (We will review and consider ABD candidates who are close to completion)
- Candidates for the level of Associate Professor will have an excellent and sustained record of scholarly research.

Additional Information
The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
