JOB DESCRIPTION

The University of Indianapolis invites applications for an Assistant or Associate Professor of Sport Management (tenure-track) position in the Department of Kinesiology, Health, and Sport Sciences (KHSS) beginning August 2021. UIndy Sport Management is a COSMA accredited program. We are looking for an individual with the ability to function well within a collegial, collaborative work environment and who has the desire and expertise to teach at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Potential teaching duties include introduction to sport management, sport sales, sport administration, legal issues, and/or additional courses in the candidate’s area of specialization as well as internship supervision. Additional duties include mentoring and advising students, assisting in increasing the visibility of the UIndy Sport Management undergraduate and graduate programs, and service to the University, college, department, and community.

Position requirements: A Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Sport Management, Sport Administration or a related field. ABD will be considered. Applicants should have a strong commitment to excellence, a passion for teaching, evidence of a developing scholarly agenda, and the ability and desire to contribute through academic service and scholarship. Preference will be given to applicants with a record of involvement with the sports industry, or closely related area, and those with a passion for connecting our students with local and regional sport organizations.

As a part of the application process, candidates will be asked to upload a cover letter that specifically addresses their qualifications and philosophy of teaching; a CV; a list of three professional references that includes their name, title, email address and phone number; and an unofficial transcript from the institution where you earned your highest degree.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Teach courses such as introduction to sport management, sport sales, sport administration, legal issues, and/or additional courses in the candidate’s area of specialization
  • Assist with internship supervision


QUALIFICATIONS

  • A Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Sport Management, Sport Administration or a related field is required (ABD will be considered)
  • Strong commitment to excellence and a passion for teaching are required
  • Evidence of a developing scholarly agenda is required
  • Ability and desire to contribute through academic service and scholarship are required
  • Record of involvement with the sports industry, or closely related area preferred
  • Passion for connecting our students with local and regional sport organizations preferred
