Qualifications
The successful applicant will teach Bard’s signature interdisciplinary seminar courses in our early college program, as well as college electives in their expertise. All college faculty also teach in the high school program; successful applicants must be interested and able to teach either Literature of the Americas or World Literature in the high school program. The focus in our high school literature courses is on developing students’ critical reading skills, their ability to work with and appreciate complex texts, and the writing of informed, coherent original interpretive essays. These skills are further developed in the college program, where students take a core seminar each semester, as well as a range of electives.

Ph.D. and college teaching experience, as well as some experience working with or interest in younger students, are desirable. Scholars in a broad range of literary fields are encouraged to apply.
