Position Primary Purpose and General Responsibilities

As part of School of Medicine Technology Services (SOMTech) team and Application Services (AS) unit, the Jr. Business Analyst position works closely with developers and stakeholders to ensure 1) the design and development of all custom, homegrown School of Medicine ( SOM ) application software solutions as well as 2) data-integration with commercial solutions.

This position reports to the Senior Business Analyst and performs faculty, staff and student consultations, needs assessments, and documentation management in order to support the successful design, development, implementation, and maintenance of administrative, business intelligence, financial and educational systems.

• Consult with users to identify and document application/system purpose, business processes, workflows, output needs and to determine overall system requirements and specifications.

• Conduct feasibility analysis, problem definition, determine and evaluate solutions and approaches to meet user needs, and provide recommendations to leadership.

● Train end users on system features and functionality, maintain and ensure up-to-date instructional materials and documentation repository for faculty, staff and students.

• Work directly with developers and stakeholders to facilitate quality assurance, testing and user acceptance of systems.

Minimum Hiring Standards

● Strong systems analysis and design skills. Ability to handle multiple projects and conflicting priorities.

● Ability to listen and understand user needs and requirements.

● lnterpret and communicate information clearly and accurately, translate ideas and instructions both verbally and in writing.

● Basic technical knowledge of web-based application development environments, Microsoft technology stack preferred.

● Proven presentation and communication (written and oral) skills; able to communicate complex concepts to a diverse audience of faculty, staff, students, leaders and other stakeholders.

● Willingness and ability to quickly expand technical skills, capabilities, and understanding and apply to solution development.
● Ability to work in a diverse environment.

Preferred Hiring Standards

• Bachelors degree in business information systems, computer science, information technology or related field or equivalent education and experience is highly preferred.

• Experience in systems analysis, requirements gathering and specification documentation.

• Experience in technical writing, Q/A testing and systems training
