Applications are invited for appointment as Adjunct Assistant Professor / Part-time hourly-paid Lecturer in the Department of Architecture (Ref. 503425) for the BASc Design+ programme, to commence in Fall 2021 for one semester/academic year, with the possibility of renewal.

The Department of Architecture is internationally recognized as one of the world's best architectural schools. It offers an active and dynamic research and teaching environment and a diverse, talented team of scholars and professionals engaged in all facets of design-related inquiry. At its core, the Department values critical design thinking and prides itself on questioning the status quo through design innovation. The scale and breadth of case studies in the region offers candidates an exciting portfolio of potential research projects in alignment with the program’s Urban Labs structure, which is designed to facilitate collective research work, cross disciplinary boundaries, and develop forums for exchange. The BASc Design+ Programme is a new undergraduate degree launched in 2019 under the Bachelor of Arts and Sciences Programme and situated within the Department of Architecture. It is aimed at nurturing highly effective, adaptive and creative graduates who can lead across multiple disciplinary subjects, and who will become known globally for their distinctive qualities of creativity, analytical ability, critical thinking and innovative problem-solving. Applicants should possess a Master’s degree in Design, Architecture, Engineering, or a related discipline. They should have at least five years of teaching experience at the tertiary level, or equivalent professional working experience. They should also have excellent written and spoken communication skills, the ability to work independently and in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team, and the ability to work with external parties. Preference will be given to those holding a Ph.D. degree and/or professional qualifications, with demonstrated excellence in teaching, a track record in research, and experience working within an innovative design practice. Applicants must have a valid permit to work in Hong Kong.

The appointee should be able to conduct teaching at the undergraduate level in the BASc Design+ Programme. In addition, he/she may be required to teach lecture classes and/or seminars, in one or more of the following subject areas: communication, technology, and design thinking. He/She should also be able to contribute to the Department’s academic affairs including teaching, learning, and service, and help strengthen the University’s international ties with other leading institutions.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered.
