R0022117 Assistant Professor, General Faculty Arts & Sciences Department of Media Studies
The Department of Media Studies at the University of Virginia invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track Academic General Faculty Assistant Professor. The department is particularly interested in candidates who can develop and teach courses on film, video, and online streaming and distribution with an emphasis on issues of race and ethnicity in global contexts. The appointment begins August 25, 2021.
Evidence of excellent teaching and commitment to diversity, inclusivity, and equity is required. The ability to teach introductory courses in film and television studies, media history, and global media studies would be a plus.
Candidates who hold a Ph.D. in Media Studies or a related field, by the time of appointment, will be considered for the rank of Assistant Professor, General Faculty. The teaching commitment for a full-time position is three courses per semester. Department service is also required.
This is a three-year, tenure-ineligible appointment with the possibility of renewal, contingent upon available funding, satisfactory performance, and need for the position.
