Section Instructor - Advanced Pharmacology

Remote - National
R07174

Simmons University is currently looking for a Section Instructor to join our online faculty within the FNP program, to teach our Advanced Pharmacology class (NURP 424).

The Section Instructor is the faculty responsible for the success of students taking an online course under their supervision, according to prescribed program objectives and master course syllabi. Each online Section Instructor must be highly knowledgeable about the subject matter for the specific course that they are assigned to teach, maintain expertise in the subject area, and support student success. A Section Instructor is required to work with the faculty course Coordinator throughout their teaching experience.

Section Instructors report to the Course Coordinator of the assigned Nursing@Simmons course.

Simmons University Adjunct Section Instructors are hired on a term by term basis, based on the needs of the program in each term. Term contracts run for 14 weeks. Each year there are terms that begin in January, March, May, July, September, and November. Students typically take classes on a January term/May term/ September term rotation or a March term/July term/November term rotation

Each term we hold one to three 2-hour live lectures per week, based on the number of student enrolled in the class. Students will be assigned to a specific instructor for their asynchronous work and grading, but they will be free to attend any of the 1 - 3 lectures offered each week. Each of the live lectures scheduled throughout the term will be divided up between the Section Instructors teaching in the term. Often, lectures are divided up based on the strengths of each instructor and the content that will be lectured upon in a given week, which means some weeks a Section Instructor may deliver all of the lectures, and not lecture at all during other weeks. In keeping with the needs of this system, we are looking for an instructor that is generally available for all of the sync times in one or both of the below rotations:

January Term/ May Term/ September Term Rotation

Tuesdays from 5:00pm - 7:00pm EST & Wednesdays from 10:00am - 12:00pm EST & Sundays from 3:00pm - 5:00pm EST

March Term/ July Term/ November Term Rotation

Thursdays from 10:00am - 12:00pm EST & Sundays from 5:00pm - 7:00pm EST

Please note, the Section Instructor will not be available for all of these lectures in a given term, but will need the flexibility to teach during any of the section times offered in that term.

Additional Information about the online Section Instructor position:

Nursing@Simmons features live synchronous instruction providing professor and student interaction through video- conferencing, complemented by high-quality, asynchronous self-paced online content. Included in the program, each student participates in a comprehensive field placement clinical program in or near their own community. Students learn from expert faculty who practice what they teach and gain hands-on experience through clinical placements near their own community. Note: finding clinical placements for students are not part of faculty responsibilities.

Courses meet weekly and/or as scheduled. The face-to-face interactions are blended with technology for an enhanced learning environment. This dynamic program is delivered in a state of the art robust and user-friendly learning management system (including interactive classes through webinars, online discussions and online assignments and grading).
