About the Opportunity:
The Associate Vice Chancellor for Learning Ecosystem & Improvement will work with the Senior Vice Chancellor to enrich the educational experience at Northeastern University through the integration of new and existing pedagogical and programmatic innovations into the impact of experiential learning to inform the complete student learning experience. Furthermore, the AVC will lead efforts to work across colleges, schools, departments and programs to identify, coordinate, integrate and extend efforts to implement and integrate new pedagogical and programmatic innovations into existing practices and to create new practices. As importantly, the AVC will work across colleges and regional campuses to track pedagogical and program innovations, capture lessons learned, create critical feedback loops and ensure continuous learning, improvement and innovation across teams and among stakeholders. To achieve this, the AVC will have integrative oversight over the strategy development for new approaches to key areas within the Education Innovation unit including next generation work on talent development and online learning.

The AVC will also lead work on identifying future trends and forecasts, and the units participation in national and global networks related to learning ecosystem innovations. As a result of this oversight of integration and improvement, the AVC will facilitate partnerships with colleagues across the higher education industry to create linkages between new innovations in the field and existing internal practices.

  • Develop and update mission, goals and strategic plan for the institutional implementation of new models in talent development
  • Next Generation programmatic approaches to online learning
  • Establishing a networked continuous improvement area on experiential learning that works across the university.

  • Masters required, Ph.D./Ed.D. preferred, in a field closely aligned with experiential learning
  • At least 5 years of experience in a leadership role in higher education
  • Demonstrated experience leading centers, organizations or teams with clear outcomes
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and pursue a successful innovation agenda
  • Demonstrated experience in foresight and scenario planning
  • Experience in strategic planning and the use of systems thinking for problem solving
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to write, speak, and present effectively to a wide variety of audiences including executives
  • Demonstrated leadership and managerial skills, with the ability to use sound judgment to make decisions and resolve problems diplomatically
  • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to plan and successfully execute multiple projects with conflicting priorities and concurrent deadlines in a dynamic environment
  • Ability to forge collaborative relationships with peers and to work effectively and collaboratively with diverse stakeholders at various organizational levels
