The Department of Teacher Education at California State University Dominguez Hills invites applications for a Tenure- track position at the rank of Academic Year Assistant or Associate Professor with the appointment starting in Fall 2021.

The Position
The faculty of the College of Education at California State University Dominguez Hills invites applications from individuals for a Tenure Track Assistant or Associate Professor position in the Teacher Education Division of the College of Education. The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated history of successful teaching and research in the areas of Social Studies/Literacy (elementary or middle school level experience) with a critical pedagogy, intersectional, and justice perspective. The candidate will have a minimum of three years of experience as a successful TK-12 school teacher in urban school environments with linguistically, culturally, racially, and economically diverse students, as well as, an understanding of the California Common Core State Standards and their integration into content areas.
Responsibilities
- Teaching a variety of post-baccalaureate /graduate courses in the Teacher Education Division in the College of Education (face-to-face and online) in teaching Social Studies/Literacy
- Pursuing a research agenda related to teaching and learning with a focus on Social Studies/Literacy education
- Supporting curriculum development and programmatic efforts of the Masters of Education program and any or all of our current MA in Education options: a) Curriculum & Instruction; b) Dual Language; c) Transitional Kindergarten/Kindergarten.
- Assuming college and university committee responsibilities
- Participating in and expanding partnerships with area schools to foster excellent field experiences and job prospects for our candidates
- Demonstrating and employing digital tools that enhance learning in all courses.

- Multiple Subject credential and elementary teaching experience
- More than 3 years of experience successfully teaching literacy, social studies at the K-8 level in urban school environments with linguistically, culturally, racially, and economically diverse students
- Bilingual (Spanish/English)
- Evidence of working with pre-service or in-service teachers and supporting their efforts to teach for equity and social justice
- Experience teaching literacy/social studies education courses at the college level
- Experience working with grassroots community organizations and teacher activism
- Experience preparing literacy/social studies teachers in dual language/bilingual settings
- Experience with use of digital technology in teacher education
- Active participation in professional organizations in education
Employment Requirement - Background Check
Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.
