The Department of Public Administration, College of Business Administration and Public Policy at California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) invites applications for a Tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor (Academic Year) with the appointment starting in Fall 2021.

The Department of Public Administration

The Department offers Bachelor of Science Degree in Public Administration; Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice Administration and a minor in public administration. Also offered is, a Masters in Public Administration with a concentration in public management, nonprofit management, criminal justice policy and administration and health care policy and administration.

The College of Business Administration and Public Policy

The College of Business Administration and Public Policy consists of five business departments (accounting, finance and quantitative methods, information systems, management, and marketing), the departments of public administration and applied studies. The College offers NASPAA accredited MPA program and AACSB accredited B.S. in Business Administration program.

The Position

The Department of Public Administration invites applications for an Assistant Professor rank search. We seek a faculty member with expertise in Criminal Justice Administration. The position will be a tenure-track position at the level of Assistant Professor, with an expected start date in fall of 2021.

Responsibilities

Teaching responsibilities will include both undergraduate and graduate courses, day, evening or weekend classes, ground based and online classes. Additional responsibilities include research and service consistent with the mission of the University and the College of Business Administration and Public Policy. Published research in support of the mission is expected and required for tenure and promotion. The appointment will be effective fall semester, 2021. Appointment and start date are subject to the availability of funds.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications
  • Applicants must have experience in teaching and working with colleagues from diverse age, socioeconomic, cultural, and academic backgrounds.
  • PhD in Public Administration with specialization in Criminal Justice Administration or PhD in Criminal Justice or Criminology, or highly related discipline. ABDs are encouraged to apply, but the degree must be completed prior to appointment. Ability to teach in the undergraduate CJA and PUB programs as well as in the MPA program. A record of or potential for effective teaching and scholarly research and publication in their field.

  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Expertise in the field of criminal justice administration. Ability to teach on theories of crime and criminal justice policy, research methods, and other criminal justice administration courses. Relevant professional experience and the ability to interact effectively with practitioners. Experience in or potential for teaching online courses in all three programs. Ability to build academic programs.

  • Employment Requirement - Background Check

    Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.

The US Equivalency certification is used to validate foreign studies from an academic credential evaluation agency and is evaluated on foreign studies and deemed to be equivalent to degrees from the United States. The certification must translate the information in English, and confirm that your highest terminal degree is US Equivalent to a US terminal degree (i.e., Bachelor's, Master's, Doctorate's, Doctor's of Philosophy).
