The University of Mobile is seeking a dynamic individual for a full-time, 12-month, tenure-track or non-tenure-track position to teach courses in Nurse Anesthesia.  The candidate should have an earned doctoral degree, PhD, DNAP, or DNP (ABDs considered) and a desire for service research.  Responsibilities include teaching courses, mentoring students, and participating in service to the University.

The School of Nurse Anesthesia seeks to prepare full scope of practice, autonomous CRNA leaders through the delivery of a rigorous, front-loaded didactic curriculum with exemplary clinical experiences and appropriate and immersive simulation opportunities.

 

The School of Nurse Anesthesia is within the College of Health Professions and offers one degree, the Doctor of Nurse Anesthesia Practice (DNAP). The DNAP is a 36-month curriculum, culminating the in preparation and board eligibility of nurse anesthetists/nurse anesthesiologists. A component of the curriculum is the completion of a DNAP project that functions to teach the evidence-based practice model as well as produce dynamic change for healthcare. DNAP students complete in excess of 2000 hours of direct anesthesia delivery, 500 hours of contact hours invested in the DNAP project, and more than 30 simulation experiences.

 

Position Qualifications (Educational credentials, skills and abilities):

  • Earned doctoral degree: PhD, DNAP, or DNP (ABDs considered), with experience and certification as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist
  • Christian who is an active member in church

  • Candidates with prior teaching or professional experience are strongly encouraged to apply

 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Teach graduate courses pertaining to nurse anesthesia
  • Mentor graduate nurse anesthesia students and DNAP projects
  • Participate in administrative committee within the School of Nurse Anesthesia
  • Maintain a part-time faculty clinical practice
  • Contribute to the school and healthcare through scholarly inquiry resulting in publications and service
  • Participation in events of the university, including but not limited to, graduation, preview day, ceremonies, etc.
