Job Description

Center for Power Electronics Systems (CPES) in the Bradley Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering is one of the largest university-based power electronics centers in the U. S. and one of the world’s leading research centers on power electronic devices, circuits, and systems. CPES and the ECE department has the full equipment for research in materials, devices, packaging, circuits, and systems (e.g., multiple circuit labs, packaging lab, device characterization lab, class-100 cleanroom with established GaN processes). CPES highlights an Industry Consortium consisting of over 80 companies, which is one of the largest power electronics consortia in the U. S. academia. In addition to a strong connection with industry, CPES is proud to have many successful alumni in academia and entrepreneurship. 27 startup companies have been founded by CPES alumni and 21 CPES alumni are currently professors in academia. A postdoctoral associate position is open with the expertise in GaN integrated circuit design and process, for applications in power electronics. The expertise in GaN devices and GaN processing are strong plus. The postdoctoral associate will be advised by Prof. Yuhao Zhang and co-advised by Prof. Qiang Li. The team has the established in-house GaN processing and the resources for GaN IC tape-out. Prof. Zhang is an assistant professor with the expertise in power semiconductor devices, materials, and processing. Required Qualifications

An earned Ph. D. in one of the following three broadly defined areas: (a) GaN/Si/GaAs integrated circuits or Monolithic Microwave Integrated Circuits; (b) GaN device design and fabrication; (c) GaN-based power electronics applications and integrations.
PhD must be awarded no more than four years prior to the effective date of appointment with a minimum of one year eligibility remaining.
Good technical writing and presentation skills in English.
