JOB DESCRIPTION
The University of Indianapolis (UIndy) seeks applicants for clinical supervision in the Department of Teaching and Learning. The University Supervisor is an adjunct faculty instructor (part-time, non-benefit eligible) in the UIndy School of Education. The University Supervisor (US) serves as the liaison between Cooperating, Mentor Teacher (CT) and the P-12 school where both Master of Arts and Undergraduate teacher candidates are placed for their student teaching experience.
The primary function of the university supervisor is to provide guidance for the teacher candidate in their development of teaching competency, pedagogical and assessment approaches and lesson design. The University Supervisor also assists cooperating mentor teachers in supporting Student teachers.
While we are accepting all teacher licensure areas, the greatest need is in the following content majors and locations.
- Social Studies education, middle and high school levels.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Serve as the liaison between Cooperating, Mentor Teacher (CT) and the P-12 school where both Master of Arts and Undergraduate teacher candidates are placed for their student teaching experience
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in a field of teacher education from an accredited institution and a master’s degree in a content area or in education required
- Must currently hold or have held a teaching license in that field
- Experience teaching in the field in which you are licensed for at least three years in an accredited P-12 school or related administrative responsibilities in teacher education required
- Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to thoughtfully induct new teachers to the profession required
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license
- Must have the means to travel to multiple school sites within a specific area
- Ability to navigate and work within the University's database and website systems required
- Ability to create and navigate electronic documents and systems is a must
- Currently hold or have held a teaching license in the appropriate content area required
