The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer (LGBTQ) Studies Program at Colgate University invites applications for a one-year visiting assistant professor position in LGBTQ Studies beginning fall semester 2021. The LGBTQ Studies Program is seeking candidates who will teach gender and sexuality studies courses at both the introductory and upper division level.

Colgate strives to be a community supportive of diverse perspectives and identities. We strongly encourage applications from candidates who can demonstrate through their teaching, research, and service that they can contribute to the diversity and excellence of our community. Teaching and/or research specialization in one or more of the following fields is preferred: issues of LGBTQ health and wellness, trans* studies, and STEM-related approaches to LGBTQ studies. Completion of Ph.D. is expected prior to or shortly after the date of hire. A degree or certificate in Gender Studies, Sexuality Studies, or Queer Studies is preferred. Prior teaching experience required. Ideal candidates will be able to teach electives in their areas of specialization. The successful candidate may be expected to participate in all-university programs, including the Liberal Arts Core Curriculum.

Following initial review, candidates may also be asked to supply evidence of teaching effectiveness and teaching statement.
