Identify and schedule the off-campus clinical sites for the graduate program in CSD, and teach the graduate courses related to external clinical practica). This is a .5 FTE, 12-month appointment with a balance of administrative and teaching duties.

Essential Functions

1. Student Placement. Collaborate with the Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic Director to place students in the graduate program in appropriate external fieldwork placements, under the supervision of a fieldwork supervisor who meets the requirements set by the department, to meet degree requirements, ASHA certification requirements, and Illinois State Board of Education ( PEL ) requirements for speech-language pathologists
2. Maintain fieldwork placement files (e.g., including contracts, supervisor credentials, student placement letters).
3. Accreditation documentation. Become proficient in the use of CALIPSO, the web-based tracking program, use CALIPSO to complete CAA documentation for each off-campus site, consult with the graduate program director regularly regarding required paperwork/documentation.
4. Prepare external supervisors. Explain duties, responsibilities, and expectations of students in their fieldwork placements and of the supervisors as they supervise students.
5. Teaching. Teach courses associated with external fieldwork: 1. Fall CSD 503/4 and 2. Spring CSD 513/514/523/524, incorporating clinical simulation.
6. Student observation. Together with the Clinic Director, observe graduate students once per term to ensure that the graduate students are HIPAA compliant and meeting expectations.
7. Semester Grading. Assist fieldwork supervisors in completing all grading requirements, including signing off on practicum hours through CALIPSO, verify collection of completed placement paperwork and filing, participate in graduate student clinic grading meetings, review student evaluations completed for each off-campus clinical educator each term, provide summary to the department to inform curriculum review.
8. Remediation. Discuss students of concern with external supervisors, assist supervisors in developing remediation plan, meet with student as needed, monitor completion of remediation plan; meet and discuss with clinic director and graduate program director, as needed.
9. Communication. Correspond regularly with fieldwork placement sites/supervisors and students, answer questions and concerns.
10. Handbooks. Student handbook – update the fieldwork placement section of the graduate student handbook annually. Fieldwork supervisor handbook – update each semester, in consultation with the clinic director and graduate program director.

Other Duties and Responsibilities

1. Remain a certified ASHA member in good standing.
2. Maintain Illinois State licensure.
3. Complete CEU requirements as required for ASHA certification and IL licensure.
4. Demonstrate Clinic Essential Functions.
5. Know and abide by the policies and procedures currently in existence in the SLHC .
6. Maintain a positive, reciprocal relationship with fieldwork supervisors and students.
7. Write letters of recommendation for students applying for jobs, as requested by students.
8. Attends department meetings and retreats and/or review minutes.
9. Assume additional responsibilities, as determined by the needs of the SLHC and department, as negotiated with the department chair, clinic director, and graduate program director.

Minimum Qualifications

1. Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology
2. Certification from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association
3. Illinois state licensure
4. At least five years of full-time clinical experience, with previous experience supervising graduate students preferred
5. Ability to work well with students
6. Ability to develop positive relationships with external supervisors
7. Ability to work well as a team member with faculty and staff
8. Excellent oral and interpersonal communication skills
9. Excellent writing skills
10. Excellent organizational skills
11. Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
12. High degree of flexibility

Preferred Qualifications Working Conditions/Physical Requirements

Employee is subject to indoor work, protected from weather conditions. Work is sedentary in nature and involves exerting up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently/constantly in order to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move object.
