Assistant/Associate/Full Professor - Health Outcomes and Biomedical Informatics (70937)

The University of Florida Department of Health Outcomes and Biomedical Informatics in the College of Medicine seeks to hire a tenure-track faculty. We are seeking researchers with strong backgrounds in the areas of: (1) development, testing of, evaluation and/or implementation of evidenced-based health interventions to promote health and health outcomes across the lifespan in diverse community or clinical practice settings; (2) comparative effectiveness research and pragmatic clinical trials related to health promotion and disease prevention at the individual, community, health care delivery system, and/or policy level; and (3) creation or evaluation of evidence-based practices to improve health equity.

The position will be housed within the Division of Health Outcomes and Implementation Science; one of the two divisions in Health Outcomes and Biomedical Informatics. The mission of the Division of Health Outcomes and Implementation Science is to bring scientific evidence into clinical practice and the community to improve population health and achieve health equity. We seek a faculty member to join us in creating our vision of being a national leader in the development and utilization of innovative methods and approaches to create and translate evidence-based practices into real world clinical and population health settings to achieve health equity in Florida, the United States, and the world. The Division has fourteen full-time faculty members conducting a broad range of research.

The Department of Health Outcomes and Biomedical Informatics has a strong agenda focused on research methods for prevention and implementation science, including health outcomes among vulnerable populations. The Department fosters collaborative relationships with investigators across diverse disciplines, including pediatrics, medicine, biomedical informatics, molecular biology, epidemiology, genetics, psychiatry, behavioral medicine, policy evaluation, and health services and outcomes research. The Department works closely with the Institute for Child Health Policy, Clinical and Translational Science Institute, Department of Pediatrics, Department of Medicine, and the UFHealth Cancer Center. Opportunities also exist for collaboration with scientists focused on the health of older adults. The Department, with 23 full‐time faculty members and over 100 professional and support staff, provides an exceptional research environment with over $30M annually in extramural funding. The Department is also integrally involved in the University‐wide NIH Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA) Program and is specifically responsible for the Implementation Science Program. In addition, the Department collaborates closely with the UF Biomedical Informatics Programs. As part of the Biomedical Informatics Collaboration, the Department houses health care claims and encounter, surveillance, medical record and patient reported outcome data across a range of adult and pediatric populations. The Department also is linked to the Institute for Child Health Policy, which focuses on risk assessment, prevention, quality of care, and health outcomes for children and youth. The environment provides exciting opportunities to develop multidisciplinary and translational collaborations across the lifespan.

Salary and rank are commensurate with experience and credentials. Applications will be reviewed as received and the position will be open until filled. Start date is flexible.

Candidates should have a doctoral degree in an appropriate area (PhD in a health science discipline such as health services research, economics, public health, psychology, or other appropriate health or social science discipline or MD with research training), an excellent record of scholarly publication, an independent program of extramurally‐funded research or demonstrated ability to develop such a program, including evidence of interdisciplinary, interagency, and/or international collaboration. Knowledge and experience in social and behavioral science theory, research designs, and analysis methods are required. Participation in Departmental training activities, including teaching and mentoring, and University service are also expected and valued.
