Primary Function

This position is responsible for overseeing managerial functions for the Office of the Dean in the College of Education and other leadership positions as necessary. This position supports the daily office operations and manages highly confidential personnel materials and processes. The individual in this position must have a professional demeanor and maintain confidentiality. Additionally, the individual must handle multiple tasks. The individual must exhibit versatility and adaptability in working in a dynamic office environment.

Duties and Responsibilities (generally)

This position requires the individual to be able to deal with the wide variety of tasks associated with the Dean’s office and College of Education. The person in this position must be able to function independently; assume responsibility; solve problems or refer them to appropriate offices; initiate appropriate actions; and collaborate with other college-wide staff in coordinating activities involving the Dean’s office. This position supports key college committee’s (e.g., College Council) and will advise other support staff and faculty members about appropriate policies, procedures, and operations within their sphere of responsibility.

KSA :
1. Knowledge of administrative and administrative procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, and other office procedures and terminology.
2. Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services.
3. Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
4. Knowledge of computers and computer programs such as Excel, Word, etc.
5. Skill in material resources management through obtaining and seeing to the appropriate use of equipment, facilities, and materials needed to do certain work.
6. Skill in communicating effectively, both verbally and in writing as appropriate for the needs of the audience.
7. Skill in decision making by considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.
8. Ability to learn university operations and the inter-relationship between various offices.
9. Skill in customer service.
