The starting faculty salary range for 2020-2021 is $57,354 – $65,815 for a 1.0 FTE, 168-day, academic year contract. The salary range for the 2021-22 academic year has yet to be determined. New faculty will be hired for a 168-day contract plus an additional 3 days to attend Fall term Instructional Strategies Institute ( ISI ) training. LBCC offers a comprehensive benefits package.

Position Title: Agricultural Science Faculty Division/Department: Agriculture Sciences Location Albany Campus, Albany, OR Job Summary:

The Agricultural Sciences Department at LBCC offers a range of courses including Animal Science, Animal Nutrition, Feeds and Feeding, Animal Genetics, Livestock Judging, Artificial Insemination, Swine Production, Computer Applications in Agriculture, and other related classes. The faculty member must develop, plan, and present organized lectures, laboratory activities, and out-of-class assignments in accordance with student learning outcomes. The position includes coaching the intercollegiate livestock judging team and requires both in-state and out of state travel. It also may require some teaching during evenings or weekends and service on various college committees. The department emphasizes excellence in instruction and encourages professional self-development.

Required Qualifications:

Requires a Master’s degree in Animal Science or related field. Livestock judging team and/or coaching experience required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous experience teaching at the community college or university level is desirable.

Industry experience is desirable.

Demonstrated evidence of successful work experience and/or special projects with a population of students diverse in race, color, religion, native language, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, marital status, disability, veteran status, age, ethnicity, learning style, interest and ability.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Essential Duties:

Imparts excitement and enthusiasm to the teaching of Animal Science. Direct involvement in student retention and recruitment.

Inspire, coach, and mentor livestock judging team members. Travel with students for judging competitions is required.

Prepares course materials, such as syllabi, homework assignments, handouts, and evaluates and grades students’ exams and assignments. Meets with students outside of class to assist them with being successful college students.

Plans, develops, and delivers classroom lectures and activities. Incorporates relevant technology into instruction, such as the campus Learning Management System, and other technologies that promote student learning.

Work effectively with students and staff of various cultures, socioeconomic backgrounds, and ages. Engage and interact effectively with supervisors, colleagues, and staff as part of an education team.

Develops and administers instruments for assessing student progress and competence such as exams, lab work and written exercises.

Develops or adapts laboratory exercises designed to engage all levels of students.

Practices and enforces departmental approved safety regulations in the laboratories and promotes good, safe laboratory practices and technique.

Monitors equipment at lab stations and verifies that all equipment is left in good condition at the end of each laboratory section.

Communicates and collaborates effectively with other faculty and staff to continually improve and expand the agricultural sciences programs.

Keeps accurate grade and attendance records.

Advises students on program curriculum, transfer options to four-year colleges and universities, and professional/career opportunities.

Establishes and maintains strong community partnerships. Serves on the Animal Technology advisory committee.

Requires direct involvement in the planning and implementation of future programs and facilities expansions.

Other duties as assigned.
