Position Primary Purpose and General Responsibilities
VCU Facilities Management, Construction and Inspection unit is seeking to hire a University Renovations Project Inspector. This position collaboratively monitors and inspects construction activities on behalf of the University and Commonwealth of Virginia to ensure safety, adherence to documents, and code compliance. This individual works as a team member with project managers and other Facilities Management and University units as an advocate of the University and clients. Reporting, effective communication, and an active willingness are requirements of the position and it’s success.
Facilities Management’s mission is to enable the university to carry out its mission of teaching, research and public service by providing cost effective and efficient planning, design, construction, and maintenance
services.

Minimum Hiring Standards
Minimum 5 years of experience managing, oversight, or inspection of commercial construction
Proficient in construction building techniques and methods
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to oversee multiple tasks concurrently
Strong basic computer skills to include word processing, basic spreadsheet functionality, and internet navigation
Virginia Driver’s License required and a good driving record
Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU
Preferred Hiring Standards
Ability to accurately interpreted and communicate CPM schedules
Proficient knowledge of State of Virginia – CO-7 Construction General Terms and Conditions
Proficient with virtual and remote operation technologies
