The Director of Counseling and Disability Access Services is responsible for planning and implementing a comprehensive counseling program, including Disability Access Services, necessary to meet student needs and to support institutional activities for all campus locations. The Director of Counseling and Disability Access Services is responsible for ensuring that all services are provided within the guidelines established by the college, the Americans with Disabilities Act and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973. The jobholder supervises counseling and DAS staff in planning and implementing all departmental activities. The Director of Counseling and Disability Access Services is also responsible for the management of employees and oversight for all activities related to the department. The Director of Counseling and Disability Access Services must have general knowledge of offering and programs, purposes and goals of the institution and the mission of the community college. Specific duties include: secondary supervision and training of staff on all campuses with regard to DAS, personal counseling, and dissemination of information for referral to institutional and community resources.
Education Required: - Master's degree in Counseling or a related field
Experience Required: - Licensed Professional Counselor Associate (LPCA) - Four years of counseling experience - Two years of counseling experience in a higher education setting
Experience Preferred: - Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) - Two years of administrative or management experience that includes planning, budgeting, personnel selection, supervision, evaluation, and program development and assessment. - Experience with providing accommodations to post-secondary students who have disabilities.
