Gannon University's School of School of Rehabilitative Sciences
seeks a Core Faculty member to serve as the Coordinator of Clinical
Education in the Athletic Training Department. The appointment for
this 12-month tenure track position begins June 1, 2021. The
successful candidate should be prepared to demonstrate contemporary
expertise in evaluation, mental health/behavioral considerations,
and performance enhancing techniques; prepare motivated students
intellectually, professionally, and personally; and advise
students. The successful candidate will work closely with the
Program Director to support administrative and instructional
functions of the program. This position must fulfill all
responsibilities of the Coordinator of Clinical Education defined
by the accrediting body, CAATE. These responsibilities include but
are not limited to recruitment and maintenance of clinical sites,
supervision of clinical sites, training and evaluation of clinical
preceptors, and supervision and evaluation of students enrolled in
clinical rotations. He/she will develop course syllabi, course
materials, and assess student learning outcomes; mentor student
research projects; and participate in program assessment to ensure
adherence to current CAATE standards. Release time is provided to
support the administrative functions of this position. Qualified
candidates will be expected to engage in scholarly activities in
keeping with the Boyer Model of Scholarship as is appropriate to
the application and receipt of tenure and promotion at Gannon.
Requirements include an earned terminal degree (PhD, EdD, DHSc,
et,c completed by fall 2021) in a health science or related field
Individuals without a terminal degree earned by August 2021 will
only be considered for a teaching track appointment at the rank of
Instructor or Assistant Teaching Professor depending on years of
experience in higher education; a minimum of a Masters degree or
higher is required for a teaching track appointment. A minimum of
five (5) years of experience as certified athletic trainer in good
standing with the Board of Certification and an active Pennsylvania
Athletic Training license in good standing or eligible to obtain
licensure in Pennsylvania are required. Evidence of teaching
experience in higher education (i.e. service as a full-time,
part-time, and/or clinical preceptor) with documented evidence of
teaching effectiveness and a minimum of five (5) years of clinical
athletic training experience are required. Candidates must be able
