A.T. Still University (ATSU) is a culturally rich environment leading the way in whole-person health education with cutting edge technology and instruction. From its inception in 1892, ATSU has had a long tradition of inclusion. The Associate Professor of Athletic Training and Director of Clinical Education will report directly to the Director of the Athletic Training Programs and will be responsible to teach courses, engage in service, conduct scholarship, and oversee the clinical education of students.

The responsibilities of the Associate Professor of Athletic Training and Director of Clinical Education will include, but will not necessarily be limited to, the following:

  • Develop and deliver academic courses as assigned.
  • Lead and manage the design, development, and implementation of an innovative national and international clinical education program.
  • Establish clinical affiliation agreements across the country for the placement of students at premier learning environments.
  • Promote the development of high-quality preceptors to serve as exceptional clinical educators.
  • Conduct scholarship in area(s) of athletic training / sports medicine.
  • Serve on departmental, school, and university committees as assigned.
  • Engage in community and professional service.


The successful candidate will have the following qualifications, skills, and accomplishments:

  • Substantial previous clinical experience is preferred.
  • Exceptional experience in the design, development, implementation and leadership of clinical education programs.
  • Applicants who can articulate how they could engage a national network of potential clinical education sites will be given strong preference.
  • Recruitment and development of high-quality preceptors.
  • National BOC board certification as an AT and AZ state licensure eligible as an athletic trainer are required.
  • Skilled and effective communicator.
  • Skilled in working with a variety of different student learning styles and collaborating with other faculty.
  • Skilled in the delivery of athletic health care services.
  • Skilled in the development of preceptors to be high-quality clinical educators.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with clinicians across the country to promote high-quality preceptors.
  • Ability to perform duties autonomously with minimal supervision and maintain confidentiality.
