SENIOR LECTURER (STAGE & EVENT MANAGEMENT)

The School of Theatre and Entertainment Arts offers a dynamic range of production-related courses in performing and entertainment arts. From theatre to theme parks and live events, the School’s professionally-orientated programmes are designed to prepare students for exciting careers in entertainment and cultural industries.  In addition to its MFA, BFA, Diploma and Certificate Programmes in Set and Costume Design, Costume Technology, Property Making, Scenic Art, Lighting Design and Technology, Sound Design and Technology, Music Production, Stage & Event Management and Technical Direction; recognising today’s and tomorrow’s needs for top production crew by local and regional entertainment companies, the School also offers fast track intensive courses.

The postholder will be responsible for teaching through production environment and theoretical classes, as well as conducting Practice-as-Research works. The appointee will also work with Head of Technical Production and Management in curriculum planning and course development for the School’s programmes from sub-degree to Master’s Degree levels.

Applicants should also be able to demonstrate:
(a)    A relevant Master’s Degree and/or professional training/experience to an equivalent level.
(b)    Significant and proven professional experience within the context of stage & event management, production and/or project management.
(c)    Significant experience of teaching in Performing Arts conservatoire context, preferably to Master’s level.
(d)    Experience in MFA and BFA curriculum design, writing and implementation according to established quality assurance framework.
(e)    Ability to develop strong working relationships with colleagues and students.
(f)    Ability to promote programme activities to the wide community, e.g. outreach and in-reach projects.
(g)    A good understanding of international developments in the postholder’s area of specialism.
(h)    Experience in teaching in a multi-cultural context.
(i)    Fluency in written and spoken English.
(j)    Fluency in written Chinese and spoken Mandarin and Cantonese an advantage.
 
Those with lower qualification or less experience may be considered for appointment at Lecturer grade.

TERMS OF APPOINTMENT
Appointment will be on a two-year contract with possibility of renewal, subject to mutual agreement.  A gratuity payment equal up to 15% of basic salary earned during the contract period will be payable upon satisfactory completion of contract.  Fringe benefits include leave, medical, and dental benefits. Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.  Subject to negotiation, expected commencement date will be early September 2021.  The current standard rate of income tax in Hong Kong is 15%.

Housing subsidy will be provided to the eligible appointee at Senior Lecturer level.  Those with lower qualification or less experience may be considered for appointment at Lecturer level.
