The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Bucknell University seeks applicants for an academic year appointment as a visiting assistant professor starting in August 2021, with primary teaching responsibilities in the area of environmental engineering. Candidates are expected to have an earned doctorate or be ABD in civil engineering, environmental engineering, or a closely related engineering field, at time of appointment.

Applications must include a Bucknell-specific cover letter, teaching statement (2 page maximum), research statement (2 page maximum), and current curriculum vitae.

  • Articulate your plans to provide outstanding classroom and laboratory instruction in environmental engineering courses.
  • Describe how you will be able to contribute more broadly to the civil and environmental engineering curricula by:
    o teaching core engineering courses, such as engineering graphics, fluid mechanics, numerical methods, or sustainability;
    o teaching courses in an allied discipline, such as water resources.
  • Describe your commitment to diversity and inclusive pedagogy and any relevant experience, expertise, or plans in these areas.
