Description Develop the University’s overall communications strategy in coordination with the Vice President for Institutional Advancement and Communications (VPIAC).  Support the Office of the President in communications efforts and attend monthly meetings with the President, as needed.  Support University branding and overall marketing initiatives as needed. With the VPIAC, create and oversee innovative press campaigns and strategies that broaden our public relations initiatives and enhance our media presence to build our global brand, academic reputation, and leadership programs for our diverse community.  Responsible for serving as the University’s spokesperson; initiating and engaging in vibrant dialogue and soliciting user-generated content including the University’s unique attributes and accomplishments with external and internal constituents through news media, letters, print publications, photography, video, and the Web site. 

Serve as lead writer/editor for the University, conceptualizing and managing internal and external communications that support and advance the University’s enrollment, retention, revenue-generating goals and objectives. Review and edit writing performed on behalf of the University by outside vendors. Serves as spokesperson for the University and the Office of the President.

Qualifications Qualified candidates will have a bachelor's or master's degree in public relations, communications, journalism or related field. Previous public, community and/or media relations management experience (preferably 5 years at the local/regional level). Experience in an academic setting preferred. Proven communications strategy, plan development and plan execution abilities.  Demonstrated ability to successfully pitch and garner strategic coverage connected to institutional goals in print and online media.  Excellent research, writing and editing skills for a wide range of communications including media outreach, speeches and remarks, emergency/crisis notifications, ndm.edu web content, social media outlets, and routine and special communications to both the University community and the public.  Excellent oral and written communications and interpersonal skills
