Technology Coordinator for Student Success

Notre Dame of Maryland University (NDMU) is a private, independent
institution anchored in the lovely Homeland neighborhood of
Baltimore city with outreach programs in the state serving central
and southern Maryland and the Eastern Shore. Founded as a
Catholic women's college in 1985, NDMU now a comprehensive
university, offers baccalaureate degree in the women's college and
co-ed undergraduate programs for adults, and graduate programs
through the School of Arts, Sciences, and Business; School of
Education; School of Nursing; and School of Pharmacy.
Notre Dame of Maryland University is
seeking a Title III Strengthening Institutions Retention
Specialist to coordinate, document and assess a broad range of
activities and programs that support student success and
retention. The Retention Specialist will help develop,
coordinate, and facilitate activities and programs in conjunction
with instructional and student services units that will help ensure
the retention and success of students in the Women's College.
The Retention Specialist will also help implement and evaluate
policies and procedures to ensure alignment with the Title III
Grant Project.
Primary functions of this
position include:
In consultation with the Title III
Grant Project Director and AVP for Academic Affairs ensure
retention results are reflected in assessment reports and continued
project and college operations and new initiatives as well as
new Title III activities become institutionalized across
NDMU.
Use data driven metrics to work with
the faculty, student services staff, Office of Institutional
Research and other members of the University community to identify
populations of students who are most at risk of not completing
their educational goals (e.g. first-generation students, minority
students, developmental education students) and ideates with
others activities to improve student retention for these
populations.
Monitor academic progress of students
who are identified at-risk. Work with the student, faculty,
and other academic support offices to offer resources and
interventions that enhance success. Coordinate with the
AVP for Academic Affairs outreach for students who are on Student
Success Plans for probation and Financial Aid SAP.
Review retention data with the Title
III Grant Project Director, AVP for Academic Affairs, the
Provost, the Retention Committee, and First-Year Student
Coordinator to identify common trends and barriers impacting
progress; work collectively to strategize pathways for
success.
Use EAB and other platforms to
organize and maintain data, compose and prepare correspondence,
reports and other materials.
Advocate for and monitor EAB Navigate
efforts by providing training for faculty and advisors, and key
personnel to efficiently use EAB as a retention tool.
Attends staff meetings; serves on
committees; submits monthly and quarterly reports; develops
communication and strategies for retention of students.
Qualifications
Qualified candidates will have a
Bachelor's degree; master's degree preferred in Education, Liberal
Arts, Social Science or related field. Minimum of 3 years'
experience with student retention practices and programs.
Demonstrated experience working with students in higher education
setting. Experience designing and implementing successful
strategies and programs involving faculty and staff.
Experience with EAB Navigate and other student information
systems.
Must possess excellent written and
verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate
technical concepts and ideas to individuals and groups.
Knowledge of student retention strategies. Skill in operating
various software packages, student information software, database
management, dashboard updates and data analytics. Ability to
prioritize multiple projects and work in a fast-paced environment
with regular interruptions and multiple competing demands. Ability
to work with at-risk and culturally diverse populations.
Excellent time management skills.
Additional Information:
Normal office environment. Some
overtime may be occasionally required. This is a
grant-supported position subject to the continued availability of
funding throughout the project period.
