Job Description:

I.  Job Summary

The Accessibility Services Testing Center Proctor at Dean College provides administrative support to the Accessibility Services Office and the Arch Learning Community through the monitoring and administering of exams for students with accommodations. The Testing Center at Dean College is a quiet location where students with approved testing accommodations, such as extended testing time, a reader, or a scribe, can take assessments, outside of the general classroom. Qualified students are approved for these accommodations by the Accessibility Services Coordinator.

Students book their Testing Center appointments in advance online through the Accessibility Services Office's database, Accommodate. The Testing Center Proctor oversees the test taking process by greeting students when they arrive, ensuring academic integrity by monitoring the students' activity in the Testing Center, and making sure that the student leaves the Testing Center at the end of their allotted time. The Testing Center is open Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 5pm. 

This position requires a minimum two-day requirement per week, and a total of no more than 10 hours. Weekday/evening hours may also become available as the semester progresses. This is a Spring 2021 semester, part-time position.

II.  Job Duties

  • Greet students as they arrive to take their test at the Testing Center. Have students leave belongings, phones, smartwatches, etc., out of the Testing Center room;
  • Monitor activity in the Testing Center to ensure academic integrity standards;
  • Troubleshoot scheduling conflicts that may arise in a calm and professional manner;
  • Collaborate with the Accessibility Services Coordinator to resolve any scheduling issues and notify the Accessibility Services Coordinator if students do not arrive for their scheduled test;
  • Assist Morton Family Learning Center staff with special projects as assigned by the Director, including occasional administrative duties;
  • Collaborate with the other Library Learning Commons staff as necessary;
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  1. Bachelor's degree is required;
  2. Experience working with students with learning difficulties, preferably at the college level;
  3. Possess a high degree of confidentiality and respect for privacy as they relate to disability;
  4. Understanding of student development theory and different learning styles;
  5. Prospective candidates must be prepared to sit for extended periods of time;
  6. In addition, knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Office and Outlook is essential;
  7. Prospective candidates must be prepared to look at computer screens for long periods of time.
