Salary:             $42,000.00-$47,000.00

Minimum Qualifications:  Master’s Degree in Counseling or Clinical Psychology or related field of study. Must be currently licensed in the state of Tennessee. License should demonstrate full licensure in the field such as LPC, LCSW, LMFT or related license. Two years post-degree experience and demonstrated success in working with diverse populations, especially young adult or college preferred.

 

General Function:  The Therapist serves as the primary advocate for student mental health, leading efforts to assist students in increasing self-awareness, recognizing mental health challenges, and developing alternative strategies towards empowerment in support of Motlow State Community College mission and Strategic Plan. The Therapist will coordinate all efforts regarding student mental health and assume primary responsibility for the development and implementation of a comprehensive health and wellness program for students based on individual and campus needs and interests. Travel to multiple campus locations may be required for provision of Counseling Services.

 

 

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Licensed Therapist Responsibilities
  • Provide consultation to staff and faculty regarding student mental and behavioral issues
  • Develop and implement clinical and educational outreach initiatives designed to foster student academic and life success
  • Provide targeted individual, group, and crisis intervention counseling to students experiencing social, emotional, and vocational difficulties
  • Make referrals to community agencies and related professional services as necessary
  • Develop and provide various structured and unstructured groups for skill building, support, insight, and personal development of students. Conduct outreach and training events for student and/or community groups as requested.

  • Provide workshop, class, and staff presentations on a variety of mental health and wellness related topics
  • Serves on college committees as appropriate
  • Maintain confidentiality of client information in accordance with professional standards, HIPPA(Health Information Portability and Accountability Act), FERPA ( Family Education Rights and Privacy Act) and Tennessee law
