The Centre for Foreign Language Study, part of the School of Modern Languages & Cultures at Durham University, seeks to appoint a talented individual to the role of Assistant Professor (Teaching). We welcome applications from those with teaching expertise in the field of German language.

This role is a teaching & scholarship role. This post offers an exciting opportunity to make a contribution to the development of the Centre for Foreign Language Study's teaching and curriculum, while allowing you unrivalled opportunities to progress and embed your career in an exciting and progressive institution. The successful candidate will act as the overall coordinator of the German language provision in the Centre for Foreign Language Study, as well as delivering their own teaching.

The School of Modern Languages & Cultures is one of the largest and most successful Schools of Modern Languages in the UK, bringing together research in Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Hispanic Studies, Italian, Japanese and Russian Studies. It is consistently ranked in the top five in national league tables, such as the Complete University Guide. The School's reach spans Europe, the Arab world, Russophone Eurasia, Hispanic America, and East Asia, and their mutual socio-cultural, intellectual and linguistic relations.

The Centre for Foreign Language Study is a unit based within the School, and delivers language courses and a range of related activities as part of an institution wide language programme. This includes elective language modules and extra-curricular language courses.
