The University of Texas Permian Basin welcomes applications for a tenure-track faculty position in social, cognitive, or physiological psychology with an anticipated start date in August 2021.The position is tenure-track at the Assistant Professor rank. We offer a competitive salary, a new renovated and equipped psychophysiological lab space, and relocation expenses. The lab space contains two fully sound-proofed data collection rooms, each containing a 64-channel Brain Vision EEG system as well as 4 bipolar EMG leads. A separate control room houses all computer needs for data recording, data reduction, workspace for research assistants, and lab meeting space.

The successful candidate is expected to maintain an active research program using electroencephalography (EEG) involving both undergraduate and graduate students, teach, and provide service to the department, college and university. The successful candidate will also be encouraged to seek grant support for his or her research. This position requires teaching undergraduate courses as well as graduate courses, such as research methods, statistics, cognitive, physiological, and theoretical or core courses in our BA and MA programs, and specialty courses related to one’s expertise. Teacher-scholars are encouraged to apply.

The Psychology Department at UT Permian Basin prides itself on excellence in both teaching and research. UT Permian Basin is one of seven academic institutions in the University of Texas System; there are also six health science institutions in the UT System. The Department of Psychology presently has 8 full-time faculty. We offer the BA online and face-to-face. Both are robust programs. We also offer the MA in Psychology with clinical and experimental concentrations.

UT Permian Basin is located in the warm and sunny climate of West Texas. The Midland/Odessa area is ideal for those who enjoy hiking, geology, and the outdoors. Several Texas state parks two national parks are located within 200 miles of the university.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Employment is subject to an introductory period to monitor employee performance. If hired, the prospective employee must present documentation within three (3) days of hire date to establish their identity and employment eligibility as required by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Must be able to operate a licensed motor vehicle, have access to a dependable motor vehicle, and possess a valid state driver’s license. Must have and maintain a satisfactory driver’s record.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
A Ph.D. in social, cognitive, biological, or physiological psychology.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
A Ph.D. in psychology with EEG focused research, experience applying for grants, and both in-person and online teaching experience.
