Position Summary:
The University of Wisconsin-Madison (UW) Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine is recruiting for an academic Cytopathologist.

Principal Duties:
The University of Wisconsin-Madison Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine is recruiting for an academic cytopathologist to serve as the Associate Director of Cytopathology and Director of the Cytopathology Fellowship Program. Candidates must be board certified in anatomic pathology and cytopathology with expertise in fine needle aspiration; in particular, thyroid, gastrointestinal and lung, and be qualified for unrestricted licensure for the practice of medicine in Wisconsin. Experience in telecytology and molecular diagnostics is desirable. The individual will be appointed as a member of the department at the Associate or full Professor level (non-tenure track) and will have responsibilities in Cytopathology. In addition to routine service work, the individual is given the opportunity to work closely with multi-specialty UW Comprehensive Cancer center groups on collaborative clinical and translational research projects. The cytopathology laboratory processes over 30,000 specimens/year, 2500 of which are fine needle aspirates. Services are provided to the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics, the William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital and a growing outreach program. The University of Wisconsin Medical Center is a tertiary care center with comprehensive programs in cancer and transplantation. Successful candidates will be expected to contribute to the mission of the department via active participation in its research and teaching programs, training of residents, fellows and medical students, mentoring of trainees and participation in continuing medical education programs. Salary will be competitive and commensurate with experience.

Degree and Area of Specialization:
M.D., M.D./Ph.D. or D.O. is required with training in Anatomic Pathology and Cytopathology.
Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:
3-5 years experience in cytopathology with expertise in fine needle aspiration; in particular, thyroid, gastrointestinal and lung. Experience in molecular diagnostics and telecytology is highly desirable. Candidates for associate professor (CHS) and Professor (CHS) rank must meet criteria for appointment at rank per UW School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines for appointment and promotion on the CHS track.
License or Certificate:
