Position Summary:

Under the supervision of the University Records Officer, the Assistant University Records Officer will be responsible for records management duties for UW-Extension units which includes the statewide Cooperative Extension offices, 4-H and Wisconsin Public Media programs, the School for Workers, UW conference centers and the Wisconsin Geological & Natural History Survey.

The Assistant University Records Officer will work with UW-Extension Units to manage, collect, and preserve UW-Extension public records and participate in activities that will help foster and build relationships with UW-Extension offices and programs. The Assistant University Records Officer will assist in the development and execution of public records management programs and schedules, communicate with stakeholders and provide education and training to ensure compliance with records retention and disposition laws and help preserve the history of UW-Extension offices, programs and services. This position will require periodic travel throughout the state.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

A bachelors in IT, History, Pre-Law, or a related field is required

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

Required:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in records management
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- A valid driver's license and the ability to become authorized to drive University vehicles is required due to occasional travel in this position

Preferred:
- Experience managing agency records throughout the records life cycle regardless of format or system
- Experience working with or creating records schedules for the management of agency records
- Familiarity with laws pertaining to records retention for government agencies
- Experience creating and conducting public outreach and training programs
- Knowledge of RIM best practices
- Experience updating and working with websites and social media platforms
- Knowledge of project management practices
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 30 lbs, stoop and climb
