Job Description
Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University is now accepting applications for the position of Laboratory Instructional Specialist in Aviation Maintenance Sciences at our Daytona Beach Campus.
This staff position will instruct students in the General, Airframe and Powerplant curriculum in the Aviation Maintenance Science Department. This position will teach courses at the lower levels of the AMS curriculum and support the operations in the FAA Part 145.
Primary duties include, but are not limited to: Provide training in the General, Airframe and Powerplant curriculum. Assist with course development. Maintain course syllabus, practical project sheets, day-by-days. Provide training and as necessary supervise lab assistants in the reciprocating engine repair station.
Develop, maintain and update training aids for use in courses that will improve the quality of education. Coordinate course supplies for use in laboratories. Participate in the planning of curriculum changes and aid in the selection of textbooks. Insure adequacy of testing to determine that course objectives are being met.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree in Aviation Science is required, as is an Airframe and Powerplant Mechanics Certification.
Teaching experience is highly desirable. Working knowledge of administrative procedures and policies concerning the Federal Aviation Administration. Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
Possess a high level of information technology understanding and skills, i.e. MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Have the ability to work well with staff and students as well as independently.
