Job Summary

Assists in directing the daily operations of Campus Recreation’s efforts in the areas of Assessment, Risk Management, and Aquatics and/or other program areas within the Department of Campus Recreation.

Essential Functions

• Manage and oversee Campus Recreation Assessment, Risk Management, and Aquatics and/or other areas, including developing policies and procedures; answering inquiries; providing tours and presentations about the facilities and programs. This position will assist in the selection, administration, interpretation, and use of assessments to present information in support of Campus Recreation facilities, projects, programs, and department functions, including program review by leading the department’s Assessment Team.

• Oversee the development, implementation, and monitoring of short and long-range plans for Campus Recreation, consistent with the mission of the university and goals of the Division of Student Affairs by identifying, analyzing, and interpreting trends or patterns in data sets for the clear presentation of findings and translation of data into understandable and easily readable content, correspondence, and reports about assessments within the department/division through the use of departmental software (Innosoft Fusion, FMX, etc.).

• Develop and implement comprehensive risk management and emergency action plans and policies for departmental programs that ensure programs, facilities, and equipment meet appropriate standards to reduce risk and ensure the safety of members and staff.

• Ensures that policies and procedures for assigned programs are followed, by designing equipment and facility inspection plans and surveys created to ensure compliance.

• Provides training for student staff and full time staff in the areas of Assessment, Risk Management, software, etc., ensuring job certifications and required trainings are up to date.

• Works with other units on campus to provide development opportunities for Campus Recreation full time and part time staff and students. Designs and facilitates professional development events for staff members for assessment and planning related topics. Builds relationships throughout the department and within the division to contribute to a culture of assessment. Assists with meta-assessment feedback processes pertaining to program and learning outcomes reporting.

• Participates in the development of the departmental budget though the use of assessment data.
