Job Summary
Building Specialists assist with operations and events at the Melton Student Center and various locations on campus through organization, set-up, and cleaning. Positions will be require to work non-traditional hours. The Student Center Department has two vacant Building Specialist positions. Hours will be 5:00am-1:30pm or 3:30pm-12:00midnight.

Essential Functions
-Perform general custodial duties, clean multiple levels of stairwells and/or perform housekeeping duties at building facilities to accommodate event guests.
-Perform upholstery and carpet cleaning
-Identify and report maintenance problems.
-Stock supply closets at various locations.
-Operate support machinery to include service vehicles, lift devices, and various power and floor maintenance tools.
-Assist in the organization and set-up of events at various locations at the University to include, but not limited to the set-up and breakdown of tables, chairs, audio visual equipment, tents, and other specialized items.
-Operate a two-way radio.
-Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Education Level
Ability to read and write.
Field of Study
Ability to read and write, follow instructions, and understand diagrams. This position will also require heavy lifting. Interpersonal communications skills are necessary to work directly with the public and students. Ability to operate floor maintenance equipment.

Minimum Skills and Abilities
-Duties require basic physical and mental skills and abilities, including use of hand tools, power tools or other equipment and use of basic math or reading skills.
-Ability to climb up and down ladder with a spotter present.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Desired Qualifications
-A high school diploma or equivalent, with 3 years of relevant experience in custodial floor care techniques.
-A valid driver’s license or the ability to obtain one prior to selection.
